What can I do with my female guinea pig during vacations ?

Leila L asked:

I have a female guinea pig, and I am leaving for two months for my vacations. There is no way I can take her with me. I really don’t know what to do with her. Anyone willing to keep it for me ? Anyone knows someone or a company that can keep it ?
Thank you….

Ask a friend and pay them to come over to your house feed and water it and also clean it’s cage.

If you don’t have a friends of family member who could take care of it for you, you may ask a dog sitting company if they would do it.

Also, if it is during school time, maybe you can get a teacher to keep it in the classroom. they usually have class pets so the kids can learn about different animals & how to take care of them.

Do you have a neighbor or friend that you can trust? If so, have them care for the guinea pig. It should work out.

We have our 13 year old neighbor come over once a day and give the guinea pig food and water. We pay $5 a day. Now, if you are going to be gone for 2 months, they will also need to change the cage — so you may have to pay a little more for that. If you don’t have any friends/neighbors that are willing, then check with your local “small animal” veterinarian. They may have some recommendations.
